Career Change - Please help

Hi, I am looking to change my career, or should I say redevelop a past career! I am ex Royal Navy and would love to become a qualified sea captain. To do this, its going to cost about £7,500 to gain my RYA qualifications that are mandatory to find a job in this field.
Can anyone give me any advice to gain this funding?
I have a very poor credit history due to a past girlfriend (I know people always say its not my fault but this time its true lol) and I am not on the voters role. I have a BSc in Web Systems Development but am tired of the politics of agency work.
Is there anything that could still be available to me?

How "Ex" RN are you? If you're still within a year there may be rehabilitation funding available. How about contacting SAAFA or the British Legion?0
