Being bullied at work
Megabass
I don't really know how to go into this because its such a sore subject but basically i work in a gadget shop and have done for just under a year things we're ok for the first two or three months although i didn't really get talked to much because i was shy.
But in the last few months i have been bullied verbally about the shy person i am,how i look etc etc..
It's mainly one person who comes up with it all but it goes from post to post its got so bad that they tell customers what nicknames to call me and they make sly digs about me on the internet without putting my name.
I feel i can no longer work there but i know if i quit it would still continue and they'd still be in a job

Have you spoken to your manager? Have you put in a formal complaint against the people that are bullying you?
Is it a chain of shops, do they have a head office if the manager is either involved in bullying or does nothing about it?
Are you part of a union?
Please don't just leave and let them get away with it, or they'll think it's okay to bully people. Please make a complaint and take it further.
Maybe contact ACAS and see what advice they can give your or make an appointment with your local Citizens Advice? Think happy & you'll be happy

Hi there
Is it your manager that is doing this, or just another "bod" in the office
Does your manager know that this is going on? ( including the internet stuff ) Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
You are the victim of harassment, if this isn't your manager doing it, then report this to them. If it is your manager doing it, report them to their manager, or to your HR department of they have one. You need to keep a diary of the harassment, giving the dates/times, and details of what was said/done to you by this harasser."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Yes the manager knows about it yet it still continues the area manager doesn't know..Would it go agaisnt me that i have only recently started noting down what has been done online?0

Bully's in any form are sniveling low life morons, they can make a persons life hell, I would advise you to go see the CAB they will put you in touch with a body who can help, also join a union of your own accord they can help, get people who are willing to put in writing what they see to go into the shop and witness this. Then when you have everything do all you can to ensure they are brought to task over this. I don't know where you live but I know if you was in the same area as me I would be more than willing to help you.Approach her; adore her. Behold her; worship her. Caress her; indulge her. Kiss her; pleasure her. Kneel to her; lavish her. Assert to her; let her guide you. Obey her as you know how; Surrender is so wonderful! For Caroline my Goddess.0

Thank you,Would it be wise for me to write a letter to my area manager informing him of whats going on? or hr0

yep defo chap, inform the area manager and HR, if nothing is done after that, you may have grounds for a Constructive Dismissial Case against the company for the amount of bullying you've received and the stress you've hand to endure0

Get one of the gadgets and poke it in the bullies eye. It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0

As hayley suggested, contacting ACAS would be a good first step.
Really, I think the first step would be to raise it formally as a grievance with your manager, rather than going over their head to the area manager.
Because your manager may not be aware that you find this upsetting. I know it's unprofessional and that they SHOULD tell your colleagues NOT to behave like this, especially in front of customers, but not everyone realises how distressing this can be.
But if you have been there for less than a year, there is the risk that you will find yourself out of a job because you don't 'fit in'.
Equally, by stating that you want this behaviour to stop, you may find that you're taken seriously and it does work out.
IMO doing nothing is the worst possible option.Signature removed for peace of mind0
