Do Boots take old medicines for safe disposal?

Hi all
I heard a rumour once that Boots take old medicines- bottles, jars and tablets and 'recycle' them, or make them safe instead of just pouring them down the sink etc. Is this true?
Or is there any other way I can get rid of old medicines?
Thanks guys

Any pharmacy should do this for you with no questions asked.0

Thanks. My Sainsburys have just opened their own pharmacy- asked at the counter, and they will dispose of them for me. Brilliant
cheers all

i thought all drugs legally have to be disposed of in the correct manner (normally incinerating them). I couldnt imagine the police tipping cocaine down the drains even though its impossible for someone to reuse it. And they cant recycle them as its now considered contaminated.Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0
