Myself and dd use a Venus, you really cant beat it imo, dont forget when you shave under your arms the hairs grow back all different ways so for a really clean shave go up and down and sideways as well:)

i second Venus. I just got their new spa one - its lovely.

If it's not bothering HER why are YOU worried?
When she starts to become concerned, that's the time to worry about it :)

hi - its not bothering me but as i said she swims 4 times a week and swims competitively and i thought i should approach the subject with her but i wanted to know what others recommended - i don't have a problem talking to her about it just wanted to have an idea of products ;)

I also have very dark hair, i get my underarms waxed (i epilate them inbetween too, but maybe dont make her do that, its pretty painful lol!) and i always got ingrown hairs when i used to shave, would never go back, why dont you maybe introduce her to waxing? if she's only young the hairs will be fine, start as you mean to go on and all that :) (you'll prob need to the ring the salon and ask if you need to come with her tho as she's under 16, check they'll do it first)

Underarm waxing is really painful. I wouldn't recommend it

I have dark hair and use a disposable razor.

I use different ones, but stay away from cheap brands. You end up cutting yourself

I recommend that you talk to her about using an alarm clock/watch when applying the cream so that she doesn't leave it on for too long.;) Also, it's a good idea to do a small patch test first.

Even following the instructions very carefully and not exceeding the time, I discovered that I'm allergic to Nair products. My arm pits were red raw and I had to smear vaseline on my arm pits for days afterwards to cope with the soreness.

Be careful with the creams as it is easy to burn the surrounding skin and not feel it until its too late. Even today when I try I only get some har off and my skin burnt, you have no idea how frustrating this is when you do exactly as the pack says and end up with arms all colours of the rainbow and STILL have underarm hair!

If she doesnt like the cream, I agree with the two others posts about the electric ladyshave.
I think at 12 thats fine, does the job but wont hurt her unlike waxing or shaving ( may cut her as will be new to it)

OP, I can entirely see why (apart from aquadynamics) you don't mind if your 12 yo shaves, it's for the same reason I trim my 11yo DD's extra hairs in the middle of her eyebrows - she does not want to be called Monobrow at school and will pluck it herself when she is a real teen, so for now it gets a bit of a trim when she needs it .:)

It's hard being a tween these days, I'm glad you talked about it with her and agreed to try different methods.

I used to have a ladyshaver then moved on to wet shaves. The good thing about an electric shaver is it can be done anytime anywhere, no need to shower to do it.;)
