  • Foreign call centres seem to be a thing of extreemes - either very easy or a waste of time. When things go wrong it isnt because of their training its because of our regional dialects in them understanding us. Also, when they pass information back to the UK things get messed up because we cannot understand their dialects. Its a nightmare game of Chinese wispers!

I recently moved to Natwest and they have UK call centres and I can even call my local branch if theres more serious I need to sort out.

Most of our debts are in my OH name. He is partially deaf. Whan we phone call centres in general it is a nightmare cos the sound quality is terrible and he has problems with dialects over the phone cos he can't see them to lip read. Foreign ones are just terrible for him so he has to explain that I need to speak for him. Its a NIGHTMARE!!!!
  • Having had weeks of calls from oversees call centres, all asking me to make increased payments on top of my agreed repayments, I really feel pretty low myself.
We are having calls from 8.00am until 8.30pm on both home and mobile numbers. Site members have advised us to use caller display and divert to answer phone for mobiles. This has reduced the number of calls we have to deal with and it must really frustrate the call centres. I'm told that after 4-6 weeks the number of calls does reduce

Overseas call centres starting to annoy me now, when it first started most were pretty well trained and could understand what they said and they could understand me, now I can't understand a thing and they may aswell be speaking in their own language. Won't say how many times I got 'I am not trained to answer this question' Like a flaming robot for gods sake. Wouldn't care but the companies who have switched to call centres over seas aren't exactly offering us any benefit of the money they save in doing so.
One day I might be more organised...........

  • The caller i had tonight made me laugh because she really lost her temper with me as i couldnt understand and had to ask her to repeat herself 4 times before i understood. she screamed her sentence again and put the phone down. its not my fault.

kept putting me on hold as she didnt know how to respond to my questions, ive sent them 3 letters now and they say they aint received any and i asked for there address so i could double check i was sending it the write place and i was told she was unable to give this info out and i would need to use directory enquiries for there own address, argghhhhhhh HELP!!

im sure ive got plenty of this to come at the beginning of my journey

i have a caller display but answered this particular one as im having 6 missed calls aday off it and was curious.

bring back british call centres i say!!! :T

I told my bank that I would NOT deal with foreign call centres - they even put it on my profile. Made not a blind bit of difference!!!

Try this site to find companies using UK based call centres only: http://www.callukcentres.co.uk
  • Ask to speak to a supervisor next time... Thats quite amusing... there is never one there and they will hang up before letting you speak to a supervisor !

Used to work in a call centre and laughed at the notes that the mumbai call centre left on accounts - 'customer went into mint and teens store' (Milton Keynes store). Customer has called thrice (who uses the word thrice!). Customer went into sainsburys store to spend vouchers (Salisbury store). They gave themselves English names May and June - we were all waiting for July and August to come along. One used the name Elvis so we used to joke that Elvis is alive and well and working in a call centre in Mumbai!!
