  • Thanks for the link - I only started playing poker this month & need all the help I can get before I start playing for real money! :D
  • For eveyone who wants to learn/play poker.. i have some advice.

Don't learn by playing online, or watching tv, or playing against mates. These games are of poor standard thus your education will be relatively poor.

If you want to play No Limit, tournies or cash, read Dan Harrington's books (volume 1 and 2).. and for cash mainly get David Sklansky's book on No Limit Hold'Em and Game Theory.

For Limit there are a few books my Matt Hilger on how to play for Limit cash.

Reading is SO important as you get taught the theory, the maths and the psychology. you need ALL 3 to be a constnat winner. It takes time and effort, but believe me its worth it!!!!!!!!

It's actually been going for nearly a year now. I subscribe and it's a great magazine. Very easy for the casual or new player to dip into. And yes, there are details of freeroll tourneys you can enter.

Regarding books, Doyle Brunson's 'Super System' and 'Super System 2' are widely regarded as essential reading.
  • I'd disagree.

Super System should only be read because other players have read them

It is more important to know the theory behind poker rather than a "system" as such.

Harrington's books on No Limit Hold Em will give you a MASSIVE advantage over super system readers
