Can anyone advise me on the best type of potato to buy for baking?
Hubbie likes baked potato but they do tend to be expensive when bought in supermarkets.
Any suggestion please?

I buy sacks of King Edwards, which after much reseach I have found to be the best for fluffy middles and crispy skins
I get them form a local farm in a big sack for approx 4.50 which lasts my family of 4 about 3 months....ish As they are unwashed, as long as you keep them dark, cool and dry they keep just fine

Our local spud grower sells 25 kg sacks of Marfona which are huge and excellent baked. They go all creamy inside. About £4 for a sack0

I'd back thriftlady up. Marfona are the best for baking. They taste like they have already been buttered, they are that creamy and fluffy!0
