Going to London for a long weekend and looking for cheap places to eat and shop. Staying at Kings Cross area and will get underground tickets for zones 1 and 2. Looking for markets and clearance shops. To eat looking for chip shops and nice take aways. Will eat chippies, pizza, indian or burgers but not keen on chinese food. Even a good supermarket near by would be fine.
Have been to Camden and liked it but I am a bit old for their fashion and looking for something more mature.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Try Dalston Market for lots of nice places to eat and shopping. Also on Sunday Petticoat lane market is still quite friendly although more touristy.
Brick Lane is great for a curry and good value, lots of nice bars there too.
Islington is very close to Kings cross and a bit more upmarket but still plenty of market bargains.
Eats wise I'd go for noodle bars and small restaurants, there's a great noodle bar at dalston as you come out of the new tube station. Also just around the corner there's a suya spot, nigerian bbq which is quite interesting.
Hope this helps0 -
Hmm, try Roman Road, E3, bow road/ mile end tubes. Saturday only.
The market is quite good there and they have lots of ex principles/ monsoon/ debenhams/ M&S/ wallis if this is more your style? Im early 30s and grown out of camden  Fantastic chippy on roman road at the end almost opposite percy ingles bakers I think it is called the Ocean bar ?, one of the best chippys in LOndon imo.
its Also close to brick lane as well have a look at the route no 8 bus that basically goes past top pf brick lane, through bethnal green high st- actuially there on bethnal green road is a small market there too Ive had some great stuff from over the years. Loads of lovely curries on Brick lane as well at vintage and trendy shopping for a mooch.
brick lane easily walkable from Liverpool st station, otherwise closest to Aldgate east.
One thing lodon has a lot of is Clarks shoes clearance shops, there is one i Elephgant & catle shopping centre, on in finsbury park but I cant place the others at the mo?? Anyone help ? they used to be on the clarks website.
I dont know how much you like walking but I wuould happily walk from Liverpool street through bethnal green and onto bow but it is a few miles and you might want to just get the bus! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
