£5 off £30 spend in Wallis

Have just gone into Wallis and if you buy a £30 gift card, you get a £5 off voucher for your 'next' shop.
So buy a gift voucher, get a voucher and then use it to buy your clothes, instead of paying cash/card.
I tried to do this with £60 of shopping and the till assistant got most confused so I only ended up with £5 off in the end, but if you do it in two steps (buy the cards, get the vouchers, buy the clothes) then you should be fine.
