I need help

When my partner moved in with me, he lost his job seekers as i work more than 2 hours per week (this is the reason he was given). However, I only earn 18.500 per year. I take home just over 1200 per month, however after bills of rent, council tax, car insurance, gas, water, elec, tv license, phone and tv bill I am left with just over 100 pound per month. This has to keep me and my partner fed and does not include petrol etc. Is this correct? Should we not be entitled to something? I feel like I work for nothing, I would be better of in the dole. PLease advice on anything we coukd be entitled too. thanks:money:

Have you been on entitledto.co.uk to see if you're entitled to anything?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

If you were on the dole, you would get approx £100 a week for the both of you to cover car insurance, gas, water, elec, tv license, phone and tv bill, food, petrol etc.

Are you sure you would be better off?

Have you thought of listing out your full income and expenditure on the debt free board and asking for suggestions as to how to reduce expenses?

Debt free board is also for those trying not to get into debts ;)

?????? Don't you need a tv licence no matter who your provider is you can't cancel if you want to watch tv. (unless you get your set adjusted to not receive any bbc channels)
OP have you looked into working tax credits. Also your partner did try and claim for contribution based jsa he would be entitled to that it is the income based one that is affected by partners working.

Whether or not the TV can receive BBC channels is irrelevant. What counts is receiving TV programmes as they are broadcast, no matter which channel.

There's always something you can cut back on you say in your post as wellas TV licence you have a TV bill so I assume this is a subscription so you could downgrade or cancel the package. List all your expenditure (what you actually spend not what you think you do) and see where all your money is going

I am really sorry if this comes across as being harsh, as it's not intended to, but why can't your partner get a job to help you with the bills?
