    What will LibDem voters do?

Vote LibDem get a tory government, or maybe a Labour government, or whoever offers a deal quicker.

At least the LibDem voters are seeing some proposed policies come to fruition, I think most will be pleased.

It is certainly strange for the Conservatives to bring this tax change in when the Labour government hadn't.

It is unlikely to create a higher tax take in any case because the buying and selling of property or shares is discretionary and people will stop selling and just hang on to their investment for rental return or an improvement in the stock market. The tax on rental return is eased in any case by the increase in the income tax nil rate band.

Outside of this forum, I haven't heard many people talking about it. .

Out side of here and home, neither have I. But it is a ot topic at home. My parents are spearating, they think, but are not totally decided about how long term this will be...forever, for winters, or what, but didn't necessarily wish to divorce or make total financial break because of the uncertainty and sustained friendship etc. This might mean it makes better sense financially for them, or one of them, if they divorce.

That's kind, thanks. But I think its kind of ''right''. I think it wold be sad if they were rushed into a decision they might not want in the long term in order to each buy somewhere to live though. It also makes things like arangements for things like financial support of their existing grandchildren subject to change.

The Tories bring in a tax that'll hurt middle/upper income families & they get slagged.

The Tories refuse to rule out an increase in VAT & people are all over the news slagging them for such an unfair tax on the poor.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't. Even though such tax raises are only necessary because of Brown's mind-blowing waste.

AFAIK all the Tories have done so far is made the sacrifices necessary to at least give us a chance of a stable Govt (as have the Libs). We don't know how it'll pan out but so far both of those parties have made a pretty good attempt at rolling up their sleeves & getting on with it.

Seems to be plenty of people so keen to slag the Tories no matter what that they'll find fault no matter what they do.

But the fact is, like it or not, it may turn out to be the Tories that save Labour supporters from the disaster & misery that Brown was leading them towards.

Completely muddled thinking from the Liberals. They want to levy CGT at the marginal rate as income tax, BUT want to reduce the CGT allowance to £1000 while raising the income tax allowance to £10,000! Madness.

Just shows that envy drives the Liberals, they can't abide the idea of capital gains, but sweated labour is applauded. Fools.

It's a conservative and liberal policy. And it isn't that muddled. They are doing is to stop some of the flagrant tax avoidance that is going on, where rich people are manipulating their income so it is classified as 'capital gains' to save tax.

It's basically fine, as long as they reinstitute some form of Taper relief on small business investments, and first homes etc.

It's another half-baked policy, in so far as we don't really know what impact it will have until the budget is released.

The conservatives are making it much harder to plan at the moment.

The problem is, all three parties were economical with the truth prior, and during the election campaign. There was a bidding war, where all kinds of promises of lower taxes were made, when frankly we need to increase tax revenue.

So, whatever party came into power, they were going to look bad.

ive been a lib dem/liberal member and voter for 33 years, not any longer i am now about to join the labour party.I have spoken to a fair number of lib dems this week many of who are also resigning from the party, some to join labour others to disgusted to careless.
My prediction is that at the next election, whenever that is,lib dem votes will fall below 5 million and they will be lucky to win 25 seats
