Helping OH - debt from bennets passed to Lowell financial

Hi guys
Hoping you can offer some advice, my oh has Pneumonia at the moment so I am trying to help and get some bits done for him whilst he cant.
Okay so we had a letter from Lowell a month ago, debt bought from Bennets, for purchase of a Video recorder 6-7 years ago
OH thinks when his bank account was closed this may have stopped their direct debit payments, but dosent have much in the way of paperwork as he has moved twice since divorce
Anyway I spoke to Debt adviceline who helped with mine, they mentioned writing to advice the debt was too old to be chased or sending standard offer letter
I wrote to send offer letter 3 weeks ago
We heard nothing back, now we have a statement from them again stating the amount £282 owing
- Should I repeat the offer letter again or try to send the letter stating it is too old a debt and to close the account?
I know Lowell are particularly foul, so we have been advised not to speak to them on the phone at all.
Any help would be fabulous as he is worrying like mad, isnt helping him recovering!!
Thanks in advance

Hi hope your OH is better soon. I would PM Never In doubt. He is very good with this sort of thing. I undrestand that if no payment or contact admitting payment has been made for more than 6 years then the account is staute barred. He will be anle to confirm this.DL.0

If not paid or had written acknowledgement in 6 years (5 in scotland) send the SB letter. Sounds like you did that already but try our template. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=11571227&postcount=3
If they still send demands, send the template at the bottom which is a final legal threat before you take action against them for harassment.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
Thank you, we will give it a whirl
