Help & Advice Required - Dont Know Where To Start

Hi All,
I require some help and avice but do not know where to start. I
I have made quite a few mistake financially (£3500) following the passing of my dad and brother within a few months of each in 2005. This resulted me in getting into Debt and I'm embarrased to say had a gambling addiction.
I have been battling depression since losing my dad and brother and whilst I have not done any form of gambling in the last 12 months, I have been so low as I have only had enough money to buy 11 days worth of food(rationing to make it last) that this month I done something stupid to myself that required hospital treatment(Yes I am ashamed about trying this). I have buried my head in the sand due to my own stupidy.
I have just recently moved to bristol and was in a relation after having to move out of Cardiff but now I am in a position, that my now ex gf has finished the relationship and as am her "lodger", sleeping on a spare room floor.
Im not in a financial position to find my own place at the moment and with bailiffs turning up, I am at my very end. I have no assests to seel to assist me with this and despite being in a new job, my wages again this month will be swallowed up by trying to pay a ccj straight off.
Any Help or advice at this time to turn things around and get out of debt would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Welshguy
Life just throws things, but you will come through. I think you need to get some professional advice, try CCCS or the CAB. Both have people who are very experienced and can look into your individual circumstances in more detail. I don't think the CCJ should be swallowing your whole income but I live in Scotland so the laws are a little different here, but someone with more experience will pop along shortly. Please don't try to hurt yourself again, money is just not that important in the great scheme of things, so please contact CAB or CCCS as soon as you can. keep posting so we know how you are going on

Hi Welshguy, really sorry to read about recent events. It's a blip and you have to believe that it can get better. Just by posting here will help. I am no expert (As you can see by my signature) so I agree with the previous poster and would say go and seek some professional advice from someone like CAB. Do you know where your nearest one is?

Hiya Welshguy,
So sorry to hear of your loss. I am recently bereaved myself so I know just how down it can all get you. It seems life is very good at kicking you when your down too.
I have a struggle with depression so I understand how hard it is just to get up, never mind facing things and taking action.
One day at a time, little by lirttle things begin to get better if you let them though. Sometimes it isn't always good news or plain sailing either but you can get by most times with a little hope that things will gradually improve.
Try and see your GP about getting some help and support, this will make it easier to deal with the debt/homeless problem.
Take the forums advice and go see the CAB. It will be a weight off your mind just to know you are going in hte right direction
Take good care of yourself. very best wishes.

Sorry about your predicament WelshGuy - you must hang on in there and not do anything silly. The people on here are very kind and helpful and they do not judge either (not even the fact that you are Welsh)

You do need to get in touch with one of the free debt charities:
CCCS - www.cccs.co.uk or tel 0800 138 111 Freephone
National Debtline - www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/england_wales or tel 0808 808 4000
CAB - local Citizen Advice Bureau office
You can go onto Debt Remedy on the CCCS site and enter all your details of income and expenses, with your debts, and it will come up with some advice on where you can go from here - you would not have to speak to anyone yet - http://debtremedy.cccs.co.uk
You may also find that posting your SOA (statement of affairs) will help others to help you with advice as it will fully explain your position. You can do it on http://makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html and then post it on here
All the best - cheers
