I buy huge quantities of plants every year mail order, (I stopped using garden centers about 10 years ago). I usually place my orders early. This year however I decided to do it a little different, I did it the MSE way, and guess what??? I got all the plants I needed and more for 1/4 of the cost. I can hardly believe it myself.

The thing I like about the mail order nurseries is they give you the smaller plants, in greater quantities, that you can grow on yourself and get the SAME end results in a short space of time.

The great thing about this forum is we are all looking out for each other and sharing the great finds. And doing what Martin wants us to do SAVE MONEY, I for one have never spent so little and got so much. I've only been a member since December, I counted up what I would have spent on the purchases I've made since joining. And couldn't believe it was only a few pounds short of 5K. A lot of money.
I do B&B and I've replaced all my bed linen this year and got top quality replacements , through the Dawsons Dept store sale and discount code. I also got a few extra luxury items on my wish list that I never expected to be able to afford. And you know what?? I've never had so much fun shopping, and then there's the added bonus of finding all these like minded folk here on the forum.

With Martins help, we will all survive this credit crunch.

Ordered 6 days ago (last Thursday), and still the order status is processing.

Looks like I won't be getting mine in time to plant on the bank holiday weekend? I'm presuming they won't risk them getting stuck in the post on a bank holiday weekend.

I saw that people ordered on the Saturday and received them on the Thursday, but since then how long has everyone else waited? Thanks.

My account was debited on the 22nd though :(

Quite a few people have said they have already planted these out but mine are tiny plugs and need to be grown on. The instructions say on no account plant out before end of May/beginning June. The container sets I have planted straight into the pots. I shan't be buying again. I don't know where they get their RRPs from but their petunias are allegedly £6.95 . On the same day my plants arrived, I went to Aldi and got packs of 20 large petunias (probably about times the size of the Sutton ones), ready to plant out, for £2.49 a pack. Wish I had waited.

Placed my order on 20th May with delivery late May - still not received and don't seem to be able to log into my account, so I rang customers services - advised that it will be June now for delivery, so looks like I'll not be planting anything over the bank holiday weekend. Not sure if I should cancel and buy elsewhere - and the quality seems to be mixed as well!!! Can't decide, Can't decide??
  • Ordered mine on the 19th and they turned up early this morning. Its the first time I've bought plants online and I was expecting little 3cm high plants. All arrived healthy and at a good size to plant out with a couple already in flower. Saved a fortuned because I'm usually limited to the local expensive garden centre with having no car. Will definitely be buying online in future. Thanks for posting the deal Mothership.

I ordered late on the 24th May and they arrived this morning, they look great - looks like I'm going to be busy this evening! I got a bit carried away and ordered a load of other stuff too so maybe the other items were due sooner or something.

I thought I'd give it a go on the off-chance and couldn't get the £5 code to work - I put it in loads of times and kept refreshing, but I suppose it's expired now. The £18.95 still seemed like good value though, so I've ordered them. Hopefully they'll come fairly soon so I can get them out and growing!

Ordered mine on the 20th and Royal Mail delivered them by van today - not normal delivery. Brilliant selection and in great condition, I'm tempted to order another lot! Big thankyou to OP,

    MM:)
