What is the salary for trainee hairdressers in London??

Hiya im thinking about trying to get a job as a trainee-hairdresser for a while until i get given the start date for my main career job in the fire-service.
(Have already completed the full recruitment process sucessfully, but wont have start date till end of year at earliest due to more funding cuts by government).

I previously worked for 6weeks as a trainee in a hairdressing salon (alothough it was about 8years ago now),
and at the time i was working 4days per week at salon and then 1day per week at L'oreal training centre.

I only was getting paid £3.20 per hour though by the salon, as they were using the rest of my wage to subsidise my training and the course at L'oreal.

I had to leave there after 6weeks though as i wanted to go college to do A-levels.

Fast-Forward 8years to the present,
i am currently claiming housing benefit, jsa, and council tax benefit as i live alone and rent privately.

I would love to do a fulltime hairdressing course at my local college,
but i wouldnt be able to claim housing benefit and jsa then though as itd be fulltime education.

And for the part-time courses you have to be in employment at a salon,
and then do 1day per week at the college to get the NVQ qualification that you need to be a hairdresser.

But if i do get a job at hair-salon as a trainee what salary would i get??

And what benefits would i also be able to claim at the same time??

Thanks

i wouldn't of thought many places would take you on as a trainee if they know you'll be leaving in 6 months.

Yes ofcourse i won't be telling them at the interview or at any point before i have a written offer and confirmation with an employment contract,
that i would be planning on doing a different job in the future which isn't related to that subject.

Why waste your and everybody else's time by training for a career you have no intention of following ? You'll get more money working in McD's than you will as a trainee hairdresser.

How exactly is it wasting anyone's time??!:mad:

    I have 2 choices.

Either spend the months and months relaxing at my flat watching tv and waiting until the government to stops cutting the funding of the country's emergency services,
    or,
spend my days doing and training for a job which is very fun and enjoyable as il get to spend my days surrounded by loads of fit 19year old girls,
and which will give me the qualification which would me enable to work in a very solid safe career,
if I ever decided that i wanted to take that option with a career choice later in life.

Im just as entitled to do that training job as anyone else is.

Whether i choose to keep that training and qualification to just be a safety backup option or to be my main choice isnt anyone else's business except mine.

I wouldn't ever work in a job like macdonalds as 1stly even if they tripled the salary,
i still would be slightly short of money to cover my rent and basic bills!

2ndly i have no interest in working in the fast-food industry or any greasy jobs which i wouldnt enjoy.

And 3rdly i wouldnt be able to claim any benefits if i worked fulltime, which i could if i work partime while doing a college training course

Its extremely dishonest to start with. Training costs companies money which they treat as an investment. and its also very arrogant to come on here and ask us to help you tbh.
And what about the youngster who is so desperate to be a hairdresser and youre taking up the job that she/he could have got if you hadnt messed people about.

Are you trolling or something as i find it hard to believe anyone would do this.
    Shame on you.

If its nobodys business but yours, why are you posting on a public forum and making it everybody elses business.

And why anyone would hit your thanks button is beyond me...................

If youre on nearly 2£ benefits a month and you havent applied for any jobs in the last 12 months because your living the good life on benefits why bother.

The OP has been sussed out as a troll on other threads.

It is my choice, and ONLY mine, what career i choose to do, and if/when i choose to change it.

If i really love working as a hairdresser then i may well decide to have that as my life career, and withdraw myself from the fire-service's training waiting list.

However if after 6-12months i findout that its not as fun as i thought it would be, or just not what i want to do for a life career,
and im then offered a better paid job which i would prefer to do instead,
then i have every right to leave and change job if i want to!

Millions and millions of people every year do jobs which they don't know for certain if they want it for their life career,
but they do that job and whatever training is needed for it until they decide if its the career they want or not,
and until they are offered a better more preferable job!

So don't try and making me sound like some nasty heartless guy for just doing what millions of other people also do.
As thast simply how jobs and life is.

And if other candidates are selected or not selected over me for jobs that I apply for,
that is nothing whatsoever to do with me!

Its my job to do and say whatever it takes to get myself a job that i go for, and to try beating every other applicant to getting that job,
even if its not my ultimate dream job.

And if the salon choose to take me over someone else thats the salon's decision.

But if i do choose to leave the job after 6-12months then that person has the choice of re-applying for that job if they wish to.

Im not sure what you are getting workedup about even or accusing me of ''trolling'' exactly even??

I haven't asked ''how can i cheat the benefits system'' or anything like that.

Ive merely posted on this, as it's a work and benefit's forum,
asking that if i do start working as a trainee hairdresser, (so working partime on a very wage while doing partime training at a local college),
what benefits i would 'legally' be entitled to and able to claim.

Whether that job is my life's dream career or not isn't anyone elses business or relevant in anyway whatsoever to the amount of benefits that i could claim while doing the job!

And yes i do currently claim the benefits that i am legally entitled to claim,
and for the amounts that im legally entitled to get,
but as a jobseeker i naturally would like to findout more info on getting a job that i would like such as this one, instead of just remaining unemployed.

Again not sure why that is relevant to the question asked in this thread though?

I'm not getting worked up pet, but you certainly are. I'm just sitting here smiling sweetly.

Youre very immature aren't you, you can tell that from your posts on here and your posts on your other threads.

I thanked those posts of the poster as i feel that they will be useful and helpful for any other people who also come on this website looking for info on what benefits they can claim when working in a 'trainee-job'.

And because i feel that they defended and justified themself very well and clearly against what was said towards them,
with responses which are completely correct and reasonable. :o
