New to OS

Options
Hello everyone,

I am new to posting on this site, but must admit to being a lurker for a very long time.

I am wanting to start to make some OS changes and realise from reading the many great posts that it is best to make small changes.

I need to stop buying my lunch in town when I am at work and would like to organise my shopping/meal planning better.

I am married (fairly newish at approx 19 months). My hubby and I live with my mother in law and it is her house.

Look forward to reading all the tips and any advice would be appreciated.

I am going to attempt to make the weetabix cake tonight. We have a gas stove, what mark would I put it on and for how long?

Thanks
Becca:smiley:

Hi, Welcome to OS, it addicive here :rotfl: as you have perhaps noticed.

I can't help with the weetabix cake as I havn't read that post, however, I did want to say that you will save a small fortune on not buying lunch in town.

Do you have any facilities at work for preparing food? don't worry if you havn't, we havn't either and I take packed lunch everyday. Its easy once you start. ;)

Is there anything food wise you don't like / can't eat for a start.

The packed lunch thing will be an easy start, and will save money too :T

    Thank you for the welcome.

I have a microwave at work so I am thinking of bringing leftovers from the night before's dinner. What do you think?

I am not very big on diary products, mostly plain milk, cheese.

Another thing I don't normally do is have breakfast at home so I am eating a bit too much junk snacky type things for breakfast.

Hi, I've no idea about heating up left overs yet, as I'm not that confident on food safety yet, but a lot of people on here know what they're doing.

I can't have milk either as it makes me feel yuk, so nothing I suggest will have it in.

For lunch today I have Makeral and chick-pea salad.
Various salad components, whatever you fancy, obviously these can be used for other meals as well, what I do is when I'm doing the meal in the evening. I make up a bowl of salad for the next day at the same time.

The mackeral I have is princes or the like, I prefer this but you can get own brand which is about have the price. I have half the tin and the rest the next day, stored overnight in the fridge.
    Chick-Pea's - Sainsbury's do 3 for £1.00 on various tinned beans.

One tin does for three portions for us, so I've had one portion in the salad and the rest kept in the fridge.

You can do the above in a Pitta Pocket. Cost around 65p for five, just mix up and stuff in pocket, you can then add salad cream or mayo if you wish.

Also, cooked meat, eggs etc for sandwiches Hope this helps.
