Help! MBNA - I'm being hassled at work now!

Advice please!
Just signed up with CCCS and now in limbo period before DMP actually gets going.
I have an overdue amount on a Virgin card - yes, those lovely folks at MBNA!
The phone calls have been incessant - thankfully I'm out when most of them come in (God Bless caller display!)
Anyway, they have now passed collection of this overdue amount to a company called RMA. They seem to employ the rudest people on the planet!
I have spoken to them at home, but as the token payment sent so far doesn't cover the overdue amount, they are now ringing my workplace!
Can they do that?
Any suggestions? Should I send further token payment to cover this?

the general advice from this site seems to be to tell which ever co is hassling you to stop communicating with you via phone and that all correspondence must be in writing from now on. Tell them that if they don't comply you will be reporting them to the OFT (I think) under harrasment rules (I'm sure someone will be along with a link very soon)
and what ever you do don't send another payment, it just encourages them to pester you even more.0 -
I've been dealing with RMA for about 6 years now. They claim to be a telephone based co. and don't communicate by letter. Hold your ground though. Inform them that telephoning you at work is an intrusion and harrassment and should cease immediately. As alrerady said tell them they will be reported to OFT for harrassment.0

Another good tip I've read here is that if you do answer a call from them refuse to go through the identification process. So when they ask you to confirm your Date of birth/home address etc, simply refuse and state that you aren't happy giving out that kind of info due to the risk of identity theft

Wel that's not true - I've had 2 letters from them this week!
But thanks for the advice - it's really hard holding my ground but in the end I just hung up on them. They had just asked when I would next be paid so I could set up a post-dated debit or something! I said I had said all I was going to say and that's when they said they would get hold of me at work. I said I didn't want them to contact me at work and that I would check my rights in relation to this - at which point I was told I had no rights as I am in debt!
Thanks for all your advice/support!

These people employ these kind of tactics to try to force you into making another payment - trying to shame you in front of workmates etc. If you have a letter from them, write back and state that you have a DMP coming into play soon, and that further phonecalls will be considered harrassment. Send a copy to MBNA as well.
When they phone ask for the person's full name or ID and then, as suggested above, refuse to confirm your details citing identity theft risks, tell them you have written to them and have nothing further to say. If they call back, tell them you will be reporting the company to the OFT, the FSA and the police for harrassment.
Once the DMP kicks in, they HAVE to leave you alone, so they are just trying to push as hard as they can now. Stand firm!!
Good luck hon xSome days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Hello advise above is spot on you do NOT have to disclose any personnal info to ANYONE over the phone, REMIND them the next time they ring "whom am i speaking too?, i am advising you i have now switched on my answer machine so too clarify i have asked you repeatdly to put all concerns in writing to which i will reply, i no longer will take calls from yourself if you continue to harrass and use threatning terms when you ring i will forward all conversions onto the OFT and take action against yourselves"
thankyou for your calll goodbye"
hang up
they use call people who are quite frankly 9 times out of 10 young inexperienced people with NO TRAINING on the RIGHTS of us people who are in these situations therefore they make huge mistakes one of them stated how the CCCS was poketing my payments for their own beifit i think after i had reminded her i was recording this conversasion Tracy hung up!:rotfl:
so chin up keep up what you have been advised by the CCCS and live dont be bullied or intimidated!

RMA are the rudest people on gods earth. They will certainly tell you that they are phone based. Might be worth asking them how they handle cheques that are sent to them in that case????
You do not have to take calls from them anywhere. I echo the sentiments of the vast majority on here either hang up, refuse to go through the id process also tell them you are recording the call (even if you are not) i would also write to them telling them you will only deal with them by letter and to remove any numbers they hold for you from their system.
It really isnt worth holding any sort of coversation with them on the phone put everything in writing then you have evidence to prove what has been said.
Good luck
