can i get a morgage if i know in two years i will be made redunedent

My question is,.. I know that in two half years, possibly more that my factory will close and make all manufacturing redundent. this has been confirmed. (the closure, not the time frame) the only thing that hasnt is the time frame so i may be there in five years. it has already beeing put back 6 months.

i want a morgage, can i still get one?, surly its unfair for me to have to choose to go find another job for job security because i may loose my job in x years time and to loose my redundency which has been garenteed so i can get a morgage. (i wont get redundency if i choose to leave)

i havent said to my morgage people because i assume this will effect the outcome but i dint know when i will loose my job just that it one day will happen.
i understand that they will call my company so im not sure where i stand, loose redundency to find a job which might not be as well paid again which will effect my morgage.

Isn't the question, should you take on a mortgage when you know you will be made redundant in the near future. Wouldn't it be worse to have a mortgage, knowing you'll have to find a job which might not be as well paid? Why not spend the next two years saving as much as you can, and preparing yourself for a potential loss of income rather than taking on a massive debt?
