I hope this has been posted in the right section.
I have been on a DMP with CCCS for about 2 years now and the Halifax after a few months stopped interest on my overdraft debt of about £4300, I have now paid them back about £2500 but got a letter from them today thanking me for keeping to my arrangement and telling me it is now canelled and to pay the full £1750 outstanding if not I will get another letter warning of debt recovery then they may send it to debt recovery. I would be fine with this as Blair Oliver Scott already deal with my Halifax loan and are really helpful and stop charges. Rather than wait for the letter I called the Halifax and explained I can't pay in full and my circumstances are the same, they agreed to reset my arrangement for 3-6 months but said as of 2 weeks ago when they set an arrangement it activates the account again and I will get charges of £31 per month added so instead of £117.47 coming of the debt only £86.47 will which now means instead of taking 15 months to clear it is now 22 months. I told them this was unfair as I pay every month and do not want use of the account, they told me I can start using the account again. I asked them just to send it to Blair Oliver Scott and they said it can go over any time but they can't force the system to send it over at request. I am at a total loss and feel that the end was in sight and now its not, I don't think its fair I will now end up paying over £600 in fees before the debt is clear when they initially agreed to stop them. I wonder now if I hadn't bothered calling in response to their letter they may have sent it over to debt recovery which would have made it a lot easier.
Any advice on how to tackle this please?? Thanks

            Hi
They can always restart charging at any time, they are only ever frozen as a goodwill gesture.
It may be that your balance and payment are now such that the amount you are paying is more than the minimum payment would have been as that often triggers interest to start again.
Only thing you can do is to write and ask them to reconsider but cannot force them.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
