buying at auctions to sell?

Hi!
My latest 'money making idea' is to try buying things at auctions and selling them on (maybe on ebay?). Just wondering if anyone had any experience of doing this and if there's potential cash to be made? My housemate works at our local auction house so can give me a heads up on things coming in... thinking along the lines of shop/house clearances etc. Maybe there are some bargins to be had?? Just an idea.....
