Well I had my lightbulb moment last weekend and sat down with my (new) girlfriend who is a financial adviser (who said romance was dead?) and worked out that despite taking home £1800 per month I have £20 to spend on non essentials. Whoopee....

Well she hasn't dumped me yet and over the following weeks I will keep a diary of how much I owe and when it will be paid.

If this is the wrong place for this kind of diary then my apologies and I am sure you will all tell me where to go..

So I start in a position of owing approx. £25,000 non mortgage debts that run from unpaid creditors at 0% to creditcards at 25%.

For some reason the low interest loans that would help in reducing those disgusting interest charges just aren't available to me... I wonder why???

Ok so I am going through a divorce with someone who won't communicate, (NO, the new girlfriend is post separation....) have three kids 12, 9 and 6 who were used to getting what they wanted and a house worth £190k with a mortgage of £100k and a possible payment to the soon to be ex of 30-40k.....

The £25k debt that seemed small is suddenly not!

So downsizing the house, selling the speedboat (No, No I hear you cry, you cant sell that... OK I,ll keep it for now!!!) and generally re-aligning things is all ahead of me.

But for now I have to get on with my work or I will lose my job and then all my present problems will seem oh so small.

Till next time happy saving all and anyone want to buy a boat?

Good luck Dave, sounds like you have a lot on your plate but some good support from the new GF.

Divorce can be awful, I hope it goes through as smoothly and quickly as possible.
