  • Sorry, but if your credit is bad already and you can't even get a debit card with a bank I don't think any credit card will touch you.Couldn't you stick to cash instead?

    what about a pre pay c/credit card where you give say cap one £200 and they supply you with a credit card in theory you are spending your money but through them, and this will help you credit rating. and i also think that once you have had the card for 6 months they refund you your £200 and let you keep the card as a proper credit card

  • I think the OP was after a “real” card to help build credit history as pre-paid cards will not report any credit history as they are not a credit based product.

    In short ALL credit card providers will perform a credit check, either internally if it is your own bank, or externally with a credit reference agency if it is any other provider.

    Some cards of course have less stringent lending policy’s than others and you can normally take a good guess at which once these are as the will generally have APR’s in excess of 24%.

    The Capital One “guaranteed” product is not currently being offered, however a few other providers you could try are;

    Vanquis
    Aqua
    Capital One “classic”
    Barclaycard Initial ( normally better for no credit history rather than a tarnished one)
    Monument ( basically Barclaycard initial under a different brand name)
    :rolleyes: It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them :rolleyes:
