Hi,
did a quick search, maybe you could use some of these, you could drill a hole in middle and screw to drawer, you would maybe need a spacer for little fingers, paint or stain to suit.0 -
try speaking to a local joinery firm as I'm sure most of them could do something like this very easily.0

dont screw them on, use wood glue instead.Get some gorm.0

I'd probably cut some up myself from MDF. Make up a template from card to use to draw the outline then carefully cut out. 6mm MDF should be fine. MDF will actually cut with a sharp stanley knife blade though ideally use a coping saw. File down as necessary. You could then stick the heart on a small block of wood (ideally a wooden dowel but no reason can't be square) behind and paint to coordinate with other colours (i.e plum?) before screwing in place from inside of unit (screw as can replace if they break or want to change later on).0

does it have to be wooden hearts ?
if you are going to paint them to a particular colour you could buy some of that clay that hardens when dry (the works, early learning centre sell it )roll it with a pastry roller, make your hearts with a pastry cutter. The clay is approx £3 and a pastry cutter approx 80p,not bad for a set of handles.0 -

To the other replies..thankyou!
I did want wood yes as the drawers are pine which i have eggshelled white (Scandanavia range from argos)..the handles have some missing so i wanted them all to match and thought hearts would look nice. If anyone knows roughly what size i would need for them ide very much appreciate it..thanks x0 -
Hmm just worked out the amount and thickness needed and it comes to over £30 eek! hmm may not get so many now but wanted it to match grr!0

Hi thanks i am now borrowing a friends saw and going to have a go at making one see how it goes..if not ill buy 10 for the main set then use the other things i have for the other drawers! I agree 6mm looks about right to me.
Can i just ask what is the best thing to sand it with..sandpaper or some sort of fine chisel type thing?
Thanks x0 -
I'd just use a standard woodworking file on the edges of the MDF to get closer to your pencil line (you should get pretty close to the line with the coping saw though) and gently sand with sandpaper (fine/medium grade) to finish. Avoid sanding or filing the top/bottom faces of the MDF as it'll go all fluffy. Could be a bit fiddly and require some patience...especially in the v bit of the heart. Be interested to know how it turns out!0
