Folks, I wasn't saying anything other than there hadn't been much of a "relief rally" with the new conservative government and that the pound was falling:)

Can't speak for the others Spiv, but my posts weren't aimed at you. Sorry if they came across as such.

Does anyone check to see whether or not what they are about to start a thread on has already been posted?
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

Likely story, seems like the Labour supporters are going to have as much fun over the next few years as the Tory ones have (well maybe not with all those cuts)

Bank of Tokyo is predicting $1.38

Interestingly that is exactly the same lowest rate it hit against the USD in the last two troughs on January, 23rd 2009 and June, 11th 2001.

If it did get to that level soon, that, taken with significantly higher ocean freight rates recently and the highly likely increase in VAT, would mean that we could see some pretty major further price hikes in the high street on most imported goods before very long.

Just to make the point, the value of the quid vis-a-vis the dollar isn't a vote by the markets on the competency of the current or any possible future Government, it's a part of a very complex series of calculations, most of which are individually very simple as to what currency you need or want to hold at any given time for a multitude of purposes.

That`s not the line the tories have been pushing.:rotfl:
