A question for overweight ladies

Thank you Lemon Tree and Angela. I'm used to getting puffy ankles in hot weather and I've never thought anything of it, as it's par for the course if you're overweight. What's worried me about this, is the fact that it's suddenly got much worse in a matter of weeks, and also my feet still seem swollen first thing in the morning (as I can't get some of my shoes on).
I think I'll see how it goes over the next couple of weeks and get back to the docs if it gets any worse.
Thanks again all x0 -
I was nursing for 30 years but developed a degenerative back condition which meant I couldn't walk, stand or stoop. I was given an office job which I did for 6 months. However, due to the chair I was using, and my bad back, it was difficult to sit properly on the chair and I had to sit forwards. I developed lymphadoema in both legs. I had to go every couple of days to the lymphadoema clinic for compression bandaging, which consisted of tubigrip, cotton wool bandage then crepe bandages over, this was toe to mid thigh on both legs. As you can imagine in hot weather, this was not fun! I ended up having to retire on medical grounnds. Perhaps you have developed oedema too. Just a thought! I hope not though. Best of luck on finding your answer.0

Mine went like this all of a sudden about 5 years ago, I reckon everything started to fall apart after I turned 40 lol! I was very overweight but had always had good health up until then. My feet, ankles and calves were swollen most of the time in summer, one time I got some excema on the top of my foot from sandals irritating me, it got worse, got infected and before I knew it my foot had big ulcers on it that wouldn't heal because of the swelling. I felt like an 80 yr old having to have my foot dressed by the practice nurse. I had 3 lots of antibiotics and it was still bad. Eventually the GP prescribed some water tablets and only then, when my foot wasn't so swollen, did it start to heal. That was the motivation for me to lose some weight, it was debillitating and humilliating and I didn't want it again. When I lost the weight my feet stopped swelling up although they are wider than they used to be and so are my ankles. Try and raise your legs up whenever possible and drink lots of water.
