Lost In The Post - Question

If you return an item by Royal Mail using a firm's freepost service, how does that affect any claim you make if the item is lost in the post?

As long as you have a certificate of posting or a stamped receipt then you should be OK to clain against the Royal mail. If you have no COP or stamped receipt I would think you have a problem unless you can prove somehow that you posted it.

Thanks for the reply. I was wondering if the amount you were covered for was affected by how much you paid for the postage and if it was freepost they could say you weren't covered. But if all you need is a certificate of posting that's fine.
  • freepost just means the licence holder pays the postage costs instead of you. how it affects the value of the insurance cover I couldn't hazard a guess. But if I was returning goods and the supplier provided freepost return labels then they accepted the liability for the transit method and all I would want is COP from PO.

I have returned various items to Amazon this way without incident.
    I have a cunning plan!
Proud to be dealing with my debts.
