I have quite dry skin and use Boots cucumber facial wipes to remove make-up then boots cucumber rinse off cleanser to wash my face.
Then just normal Nivea to moisturise. Always used it as have my mum and my grandmother and we are always told we have good skin.Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0 -
Oooh thanks shandyclover, I'm really intrigued by your friend's 'potions'. Would you mind posting them if it's alright with her?
It's all very unfussy...
She keeps a pretty bowl of baking soda by her sink, puts a pinch in her hand and moistens it with a bit of water and scrubs...
She takes makeup off with olive oil - straight on cotton wool, a bit like the oil cleasning method...
She tones with a mixture of half/half apple cider vinegar and water in a little bottle - though you do smell the vinegar at first - it does fade...
She buys pure coconut oil and uses it straight on her curly hair as a shine serum, on her face and body as moisturiser.
She saves all her money and spends it on mineral makeup - she has the biggest collection of colours I have ever seen! She can mix some of the minerals with the coconut oil to make her own lipgloss!
She uses pure lavender oil as a perfume...
All of this came very naturally to her as she had very humble beginnings so used traditional methods of skincare. Even if it were not for the financial aspect I'm tempted to adopt her regime just for the amount of chemicals I'll avoid! Each time though packaging and namebrands and advertising seduce me back!
I was out shopping with her one day when we went into BS, the staff there complimented her on her skin and asked about her skincare regime - you should have seen their faces! No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!0 -
Wow, thank you so much for all the advice jenniewb!
I never ever use a facial suncream, so the first thing I'm going to do is go out and get me one of those:)
Do you mind me asking what brand you use?
Thanks again!:j
I use Kiehl's sun stick, it has an SPF of 50 and I can put it on under my moisturiser without my face turning white! Its one of those facial sticks for skiers but I just apply it all over my forehead and t-zone. I apply other stuff by Kiehl's to my cheeks and neck, it hasn't caused me any spots and I have been using it for the past year.
I used to use the L'Oreal Mattifying SPF facial lotion- there is a big difference between facial SPF creams and body SPF creams. Its an OK lotion but isn't as mattifying as I'd have liked. But works well for me when I need to go out running on a saturday for an hour (so only applied lotion for the hour I was outside and then came straight home to a shower.) Its just cheaper then the Kiehl's which I would tend to use if I was going anywhere where I see and speak to people!
I want to try the Liz Earle SPF cream- I spoke to the assistant whi explained to me that the moisturisers with SPF in are not going to offer enough protection and directed me towards the SPF selection but the Kiehl's is a good cream. I also want to try the Mac primer which has an SPF of 50 though I am not sure if it offers the full SPF or not- need to do some research on that!
I know there are many out there and if you can test them out this would be helpful.0
