Does CCA have to be an original signed copy?

Hello, I am really hoping that someone who is an expert on these issues will be along to give me some advice, as I must admit that although I have gone down the CCA route - I don't fully understand it all.
Basically, my husband owes Citicard about £14,000 - I requested a CCA in July 2009 - I heard nothing, but the debt was referred to Collect Direct, with whom I had a few heated conversations after the lovely man there, said he would file for our bankruptcy.
Today, I have (finally) received a CCA from Citicard, but it says it is just the terms that were applicable at the time of the application (not sure of the date, but I think it was probably around the the year 1999?)
The CCA is obviously not a signed true original, but the accompanying letter says it doesn't have to be? - basically I want to know if this is the end of the road?
Many Thanks, I really appreciate it

Hi Missoptomistic, I may be wrong but I think you probrably inhabit one or more of the other forums. By the time I finish typing this someone else will probrably have told you that you need Never-in-Doubt. You will find him on the unenforcability thread. As well as all the templates you will find all the information you need in order to understand the CCA system.
If you dont find him there he will probrably be prowling for spam or on the guide to new comers thread.
 Hope this helps, regards handyman123.
P.s I must start charging him for all the work I send his way!Mother Nature Don't Draw Straight lines, We are Broken Moulds in Life's Grand Design, We look a Mess but we're doing fine,

They are not required to provide you with a copy of the original document with a CCA request, but they are required to provide more than just the terms.
They should have supplied a document that has all the prescribed terms with the exception of the signatures. This data is usually taken from their computers rather than any paper documentation - do the documents they sent you have the personal details, APR, monthly interest rate, charges etc on them?
If not then they have still not fulfilled their obligation under s77/79 of the CCA74.
As Handyman says, NID will possibly be along soon to tell you what is wrong with what they have sent. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91

Check out this for the terms required - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=30355917&postcount=5
Signatures are not required on the true copy. But they are required if they want a CCJ, CO or bankruptcy if the card was taken out pre april 2007.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0

Scan a copy of what they sent you up remembering to cover personal details first.
Btw they need the original to take you to court.0

 Hiya
Just send this back and when they reply, give me a shout or post back here: CCA Query - Terms & Conditions Supplied
As others have confirmed, they do not need to provide a signed copy however as my template above shows, why won't they? If they have it?
Without it they cannot take you through courts so really, it's up to them to provide you a signed copy of the original...... we can mess about speaking permutations all morning, really there is no need.
Send this and see what they come back with yea? CCA Query - Terms & Conditions Supplied 2010 - year of the troll 2010 - year of the troll

Thank you everyone for your responses - it has been very helpful, I will send the template letter (thank you 'never-in-doubt') and see what they have to say to that, but bearing in mind that it has taken them 10 months to send the CCA in the first place, I am not hopeful of a speedy response!
 Thanks Again
