Fujitsu Siemens Sat Nav and MP3 player in one – 85% review score - 10% off price!

Hi folks.
Just got one of these Pocket Loox N100s delivered and it’s looking like a very good buy so far.
Had been looking for a Sat Nav gadget for a while and then saw that this was coming out and that it was also an MP3 player too (MP3, WMA and Apple’s AAC file formats). Looks a bit iPod-esque too and it’s certainly pocket-sized!
Saw the review on The Register’s hardware website on Tuesday who gave it a score of 85% - which was enough for me! Check out the link below to read the review. At the end there’s a special offer link to Nice PC where you get 10% off the £249.99 cost – so it works out at £224.99. Bargain! – Well we all like a bit of money saving!

I’ve attached some images below and listed the basic spec. I’m off out to test mine on the road now. In London I reckon this is going to be well useful as a hand-held navigation device, especially finding client offices once you come out of a tube station. Not something you could do with some of the larger Sat Nav devices.
Hopefully this will stop me having to ever consider asking directions again – it’s an unwritten bloke rule don’t you know?!

What is the battery life like? No mention of it on the datasheet off the retailer's site. Worryingly the review avoids the issue somewhat:The back of the N100 gives access to the removable 3.7V, 1100mAh battery which charges up in around four hours. Battery stamina will obviously depend on what exactly you're doing: navigating will presumably put more demands on the power pack than, for example, music playback, during which you can switch off the screen backlight should you wish0

I've found the details on this datasheet:
Battery
Exchangeable Lithium-Ion battery, rechargeable
Main battery 1100 mAh
Battery life: Depends on usage
GPS test with MN6 - display on & Battery full ->
Approximate run time 4h 45 min
More than 20 h if running the MP3 player, display
off, listening via headset0 -
Hi Guys
This was featured in a recent Independent newspaper review, not knowing much about Sat Navs this looked like an interesting acticle. It was much cheaper than the well known "Tom Tom" device and even with the price tag of £270 it won the "best budget buy" and we all know you can get it much cheaper than that!
I'm going to do some more hunting around but it looks like a handy little device and well within my budget.
I'll keep you guys posted!0 -
I wonder where my post on this topic went after the original comments????? Weird!Happiness is wanting what you have, not having what you want.

Ebuyer have this unit down to £140 inc vat for those interested. Anyone out there that has one......what are the PDA functions like or does it actually have any beyond sat nav and MP3?
LOOX N100 on EbuyerLife in this world is, as it were, a sojourn in a cave. What can we know of reality? For all we can see of the true nature of existence is, shall we say, no more than bewildering and amusing shadows cast upon the inner wall of the cave by the unseen blinding light of absolute truth, from which we may or may not deduce some glimmer of veracity, and we as troglodyte seekers of wisdom can only lift our voices to the unseen and say humbly "Go on, do deformed rabbit again.....it's my favourite". © Terry Pratchett in "Small Gods"
