Good Evening all

I hope someone can offer some advice please. We are in the final stages of buying a property . Our Solicitor asked our mortgage provider to release the full mortgage amount into the Solicitors account in preparation to complete the Purchase transaction. This was done on the 7th of May to be transferred to the Solicitors accounts via same day CHAPS payment. It is now 3 working days later, not counting the day the money was sent and no one knows where the money is !!!

The Mortgage provider (ING Direct) has confirmed with the Solicitor that the account details used where the same as the Solicitors and can confirm it has gotten to the Solicitors Bank but not into their account. I have spoken to the Solicitor and they have checked all their accounts and spoken to the bank and there is no money waiting to clear.

ING is adamant it is up to the Solicitor to chase the money and have given the transmission reference only but will release the confirmation they supposedly got from the Solicitors bank to say the money has reached the Bank but not the account. When I asked if this money is never claimed when does it revert back to the ING the customer rep was totally confused and could not give an answer.
Any advice on how to proceed would be most welcome.
