Hi all,
I need some advice on a letter that i received from Rockwell Debt Collection.
I received a letter stating that i owed them £1100.00 on behalf of there client Fairmile partnerships.
I acknowledged the debt in writing and advised them that i was liable for the debt as i got confused what debt this was for as i am in the process of clearing my debts. I panicked as they stated in the letter that they would send the debt collectors to my address and that situation i didn't want to be in.
They also bullyed me into sending them my financial staus and they have agreed that i can pay £50.00 a month until the debt is paid.
Is there anything i can do or am i now obligated to pay this debt.
Help is much needed as i wish to sort this matter out!!!!

Do you know what the debt is for? do you agree you owe it?
You could still send the prove it letter to get them to prove you owe the money (although it would have been better if you had not acknowledged the debt first) - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=11570893&postcount=2
In future if anyone threatens doorstop collectors there is a letter you can send which revokes their right to visit you.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hi,
Thanks for your advice, i don't know what the debt is for and i don't recall fairmile patnerships. I am in the process of sorting out my debts and i am in correspondence with a few debt collectors.
this is a snip of the letter that i sent them.
Dear Sir / Madam,
Thank you for you letter dated 12th April 2010, that i am in receipt of.
It is with regret that i am unable to meet your demands, by paying the outstanding balance within 10 days.
The recession and the financial climate that we are currently in has affected the trade and industry that i work in. I am currently self employed and my work varies from week to week and i am finding it difficult to stay in constant employment.
I understand and acknowledge that i am liable for the debt and i am asking you if we could come to an arrangement where i could make payments on an instalmant basis.
Thanking you in advance for your assistance in this matter.

Seems to be a number of single posts on various Forums regarding Rockwell/Tessera/ Fairmile. They always seem to have the same tone, the same type of grammar and spelling mistakes and all contain an obvious flaw in the OPs actions or information such as 'the debts are 5/6 years old. Hmmm
Then the respondents are 'thanked' and the OP disappears. Hmmm
Maybe this OP is genuine? Maybe not? Maybe its someone at Rockwell ( in Essex) who has nothing better to do?
:D stay wonky

Thank you ever so much for your advice.
I sent the prove it letter to rockwell. And they have written back to me stating that they have closed their files as they cannot obtain the original or a copy of the credit agreement.
Thanks to all that replied with there advice.
