Telemessage - Council tax

So today a letter has been received for the remaining council tax of £418.79.

This place is HA and the named tenant spends most of hertime at her boyfriends (long story) she pays the CT.

We had a letter a while back (can't find it now) stating £23 was left to pay for 2009/10 s0 I paid £25. We got CT reminders for £84 for 2009/10 and £359.79 for 2010/11 in April.

Looks like nothings been paid. Basically £84 plus £35.79 (April) & £36.00 (May) haven't been paid at all.

Now we get a letter from Telemessage saying the CT is £418.79 overdue and to pay now! Do 3 missed payments really mean a summons and to pay the whole CT for a year? Can we pay the 3 missed payment and pay the rest on time?

We move out of the property next month into another council area so would we only need to pay April, May & June plus last years?

Probably. Phone up the council and see if you can arrange to just pay those months to get your account out of arrears.

Although I would query why you are now being asked for £84 for last year when you believed it had been paid. (is it anything to do with the 25% discount being claimed when it should not have been perhaps (as £84 is around 1/4 of this years bill.)

Is it really only £35 per month? I didn't know CT could be so cheap!

    CT benefit.

The fact that we pay for everything and she just drinks all day annoys the hell out of me. She's the named tenant but with 2 others in the house there are 2 deductions from benefits so as we pay the rent we pay for her!
