Change from Int only to repayment over phone
Comments
-
My original request was to get a written quotation showing how much a repayment mortgage would be if we swopped from interest only. No figures were discussed on the telephone. I did not expect a call centre to produce figures off the top of their head over the telephone. I wanted the figures in writing so that myself and my husband could make a joint decision. I also thought that there would be a form requiring two signatures if we decided to go ahead with the change.
I received no paperwork. Barclays changed the mortgage from that telephone enquiry, took the higher amount via direct debit from our joint account, without notifiying us in advance that this was happening.
They have asked for the repayment vehicle, which I have provided. They are not querying any possible shortfall in the endowment maturity amounts.
Barclays say that I agreed to the change over the telephone. Whether I did or didn't, and I have stated that I was making an enquiry, this does not mean that the other joint mortgagee has agreed. But they state that this is 'their policy'.
I am awaiting their final decision letter.0
