Barclays and Mint

They have both refused our offers, and have both said that they will not freeze the interest either. We offered them both the same amount (£1 a month).
Barclays have come back saying that they want £19 a month, and no interest frozen, along with £12 a month charges if we don't pay.
I don't want to ring them as I always get through to an overseas call centre who work from a script and are totally confused if you deviate from anything other that what they have in front of them!
Mint have also come back with a rejection of the amount and wanting £14 a month, again with no freeze on interest. They have said that they will only set the reduced payment up following a default notice, and they will only issue a default notice once I have missed a payment!
Is there anything else I can do?
My husbands JSA stops in September and we will be £260 a month worse off .
I really don't know where to go from here. I feel sick.

You may need to Default to get anything sorted. You also need to speak to someone like www.nationaldebtline.co.uk to get advice.
