Rescinded mortgage - my rights

Hi
I have recently had a mortgage offer rescinded after the bank changed their minds regarding the nature of my deposit (I was buying a flat with a family friend who was putting 50% of the money down in cash and we were doing a deed of trust as he wasn't on the mortgage application). They had already issued a firm offer to me and I had paid fees (mortgage, survey etc.), so I want to find out what rights I have about recouping this money from them?
Any help gratefully received.
Thanks!
