Another Letter ...

Well what a morning If anyone remembers i had a letter from Buchanan Clark and Wells concerning a british gas account that i didnt owe on .. which was sorted out but i have since recieved a letter from this company saying they would accept a settlement amount ! "i dont think so!" ..
anyway this morning another letter dropped on my mat from the same company asking me for £463.00 aparently from an account with Scottish Power ! so i rang scottish power and told them id never held an account with them so they asked my previous address which i said was in Cornwall then she asked if i had ever lived up North so i said i had but over 6 years ago, anyway she sounded surprised and went off to speak to somone then after 10 minutes came back and asked if id ever lived in Stockon On Tees ! i dont even know where that is so i said no.. she went off again and came back telling me there had been a mistake and that they were sorry ! and that the legal team would ring this debt company and tell them to take my name from their trackers! ..
it just seems that this company are out to try and get some money out of me no matter what ? !!!!!!!! ... the woman did say that it is quite a common thing that people get letters like this by mistake ..
What are your thoughts ? do you think this is a common thing or am i being targetted! ggrrr

If it's that common, I would suggest that they are rushing into 'action' without checking the facts. Does not sound very proffessional to me.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
