Who has the best "value/basics" ranges - Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys or Morrisons?

I have resolved to buy more stuff from the cheap ranges - e.g. Sainsburys "basics" in the orange & white packaging, in bid to cut the weekly shop. I have heard they are just as good as the branded / other own brand equivalents and much cheaper. But which supermarket does the best quality stuff? DH & DS are unconvinced and I am planning to do some "behind the scenes" swaps to see if they notice the difference.

Waitrose doesn't count as their essentials range is like the standard stuff in other supermarkets and usually just as expensive!

Lots of people seem to rave about Sainsburys. I have found their stuff quite good.

Why not do a big on-line shop of all the Basics stuff. It easy as you can search and see what is available. Add one of each item (of stuff you eat) to your basket and then check it out to see if you like it or not.

You would be suprised at how cheap your shopping comes in at.

I don't eat cheap meat. But sainsburys orange juice, apple juice, yoghurts, biscuits, nacho crisps, pizza (add your own extra toppings), curry sauce, soups, beans etc., are great. I have converted the OH who gets loads of Basics stuff now when he goes shopping.

Some people on here do swop the packaging without the knowledge of the rest of the family. Which is quite fine really! I have been known to decant the Tomato sauce into the Heinz bottle, just because it is a squeezy bottle and great for the kids. :)
