                    Hiya all!
Finally decided to type rather than read!
Ok so compared to other stories i have read, i think i am gonna do ok and pretty quick, but just need to let off steam!
Im 10k in debt all my own fault and through playing bloody slot machine online.
I win the lose....then play win lose win lose.
I maxed out all my credit cards and got to the stage where I would borrow money to play. Not huge amounts but silly bits......i used payday loans to help pay for the addiction.
Ive just snowballed (great little thing) and its gonna take me 11months to pay back the cards (which have been cancelled) and mum n m8.
Debts:
Littlewoods card £2100 27%
Sygma £950 27%
Cap 1 £850
Mum £4000
lad at work £2000
(mum & m8 fine with small payments until I paid above off)
I'm paying £1000 a month to service them
Thing is.....My other half knows nothing. Worst mistake ever, but cannot and WILL NOT tell him. (we only got civil partnership in March) great present not))
Min take home is 2200 but with overtime upto £3000.
I am going to pay more if i can depending on overtime.
Thing is, i gotta keep a secret, he would kill me if he found out.
I am just using this site to sound off and release the pressure. The gambling thing has stopped, and doing rather well upto now. Just in process of claiming charges/PPI from cards so they will hopefully take them off any balances that are owing.
I thought i'd be clever and get a loan to consolidate, but ive trashed my credit rating applying and being denied. I am now terrified that all the searches will affect my other half, we dont remortgage for 3 years, so hopefully the searches will clear, and then paying off all the cards will sort it out. I have not got defaults recently (last onemay 2008) but still got mortgage. No ccj or AP's.
I am just stupid, good job, great money and i pee it up the wall playing games online (now addicted to bejewelled blitz free game on facebook)
So now for me, work hard pay off and live within my means..... no overdraft, no credit cards until I can behave like a responsible adult.
I know my writing will annoy people as some people are in greater need and have far worse situation than i am, but just had to sound off and tell someone.
Thanks for reading....and please do tell me how stupid Ive been. its the only way i listen sometimes

I suspect your OH might know something is up. And if he doesn't just know, he will begin to wonder. If you are servicing your debts by £1000 a month, then go on to do over-time, isn't he going to wonder what you are doing with your money, or why you're not spending it on holidays/house stuff/going out etc with him?
I know it's a scary prospect and I know you don't want to do it, but please seriously consider it. If not, the guilt will eat you alive and he may be worrying you are up to way worse things than you paying off debt. Perhaps you don't need to tell him how you came to be in so much debt, perhaps not even the totals, but just what you are doing to sort the situation. If you have any joint acounts, you will be financially linked and this could affect any product you or he would like to take out that involves a credit search, before you get to remortgage time. I really don't mean to worry you more, I'm really just asking that you do think about discussing this with him. Yes, he might be p*ssed off but you love each other enough to have entered into a civil partnership, I think you might find he would be more p*ssed off you felt you couldn't tell him. Afterall, if it were the other way around, what would you like him to do?

If over-time at work isn't a goer, how about mystery shopping/online surveys/ebaying your clutter (still to get around to this one myself) to top up your income?
Good luck whatever you decide to do

            thanks for ur quick reply!
regarding the online surveys...i have my fingers in many pies lol do surveys daily and get cashback through quidco, he doesn't know how much i take a month, he says its my money and as long as i pay my way he dont worry. I am lucky to have him (bless) but no matter what poop i put myself through, i always pay him my share of everything so he none the wiser...i hate doing it to him, but believe me its worth keeping it from him.....for now anyway. but i intend not to tell him !!!!!! then when im free i can splash the cash (not credit) on him!
I look at it as only 11 paydays and im free of my mistakes and hopefully it won't come back.
I thought my game was up in august 2009 when the man came round to sort my first mortgage / 1st joint mortgage out, i thought id have been caught out, but fortunately it all came out ok. thats when bells and whistles started...so i got one free go and sorting myself out....GOD I AM SO STUPID AT TIMES, JUST GOTTA GET A GRIP OF STUFF AND I WILL BE OK.
anyway thanks for slappin me about.....1 kick up the backside
 thanks

Hopefully all your time on bejewelled will keep you off everything else. I've been stuck on it for weeks and my OH played it once and beat me. What an absolutely infuriating game.
Good luck though.0 -
If you've not got CCJs then the black marks on your credit file will start to fall off. It depends on how long each provider sends information to the agencies but none do more than 3 years that I am aware of and when I last looked (though some time ago I acknowledge), some were 18 months and 24 months. Pay the fee and get your credit file online and you can monitor it.
I used to have a mega income but some serious spending as well and I never had it all sorted. Tens of thousands in and out of the account and no real idea of what the real net balance was. Now I have a bill account where all the direct debits and stuff comes out of and that is funded for at least a month or two ahead (just in case) and then a savings account which I put money into when available and a regular account and Cashplus prepay card for shopping.
A trick is not to under fund your general spending account as even if you are £20 short, you'll transfer or get out £100 and the other £80 just gets spent. Better to have a good but flexible budget and maybe a little left over than being short and giving in to temptation.
I also used to play the fruities but in real life. I ended up buying some for the garage. Soon got bored and the phase passed.0 -
my brother-in-law was in similar position, i knew about it but sister knew nothing and she thought something was up.
i said 2 him if u love her its ur duty 2 tell her as ur going 2 b spending the rest of ur lives together, he plucked up the courage and told her and the only thing she got mad about was him keeping secrets
they both live happily ever after and r now trying 4 a baby and have paid off debts
his illness was dog racing but ur still being secretive and thats not good 4 a future together0
