How much money per week for "spends" after ALL bills have been paid.

My 'spends' are £10-20 per week depending on my wages but I budget for everything including petrol and groceries. I struggle to keep within it most of the time though as my friends are spenders and it's hard to keep saying no. I am getting better at saying no, but don't want to totally deprive myself or I'd just get depressed again which wouldn't be any good.
If you can reasonably afford £40 per week then thats fine, just need to weigh up your debts and other expenses first.0 -
A first glance £40 seems quite a bit, especially considering you have a number of entertainment items already budgeted for.
But I would also be budgeting for other items (such as car servicing, mot, new tyres, house repairs etc). But assuming that the £40 has to cover that and things such as presents, clothes, holidays/days out then then it probably doesn't work out as all that much each week averaged over a whole year.
Yes the £40 a week can be allocated for other items when needed such as car repairs etc.
If anything unexpected comes along the creditcard payment can be reduced to increase spend amount.
So anything not on the list below uses the £40 a week budget.
Mortgage, Credit cards, Council Tax, Water, Gas/Electric, House Insurance., TvLicence, Car finance, Gym, Mobile phone, Car insurance, Internet/phone line, Cinema pass. Food shop each week. Fuel for car. Lottery tickets. Haircut. Lunch at work.0 -
I try not to spend more than £25 per week.
I'm debt free now but my spends are the same as when I was in debt- I just couldn't justify spending (wasting) money when I knew it could go towards my debt.
Saying that, this is after everything else that needs to be paid, including clothes, savings, holiday, haircuts, travel, car maintenance etc, so this money is really mine to do what I like with.
Looking back to my first SOA that I posted, my 'entertainement' was £200 per month  and I tried to argue that it was essential....shows how much time (and wanting to pay off debt) changes things
Debt free as of 2 October 2009
Mortgage free as of 27 March 20240
