Feeling rejuvenated with DFW

Hi,
I know it's not a tremendous amount but yesterday I paid off my Cahoot loan 5 months early (£300 left to pay) thanks to all of my efforts that were inspired by this site and it's members. Since joining in May 06 I have paid off approx £3350 from my debts and now have only 1 credit card left (0%) with approx £3000 on. I am due a big (few 1000s) refund from the tax office and this will then hopefully pay off the card.

I'm just really chuffed with paying something off early and have now got into the habit of not just making minimum payments but actually overpaying things! Who'd have thought??!!
Thanks again to everyone
Rachel.

Well nearly debt free but not quite - I have a loan for a conservatory that I don't class as debt as I have always budgeted for the repayments and can manage them without a problem. However, I guess itis really debt - approx £10k left to pay - I have checked with the company and I can overpay monthly and deposit chunks when I can - I get bonuses and some commission from work but live on my salary (now - I didn't before!) so hopefully will chip away at this too over time bringing down the term of the loan as the interest is calculated daily.
Am I being daft - classing this as managable debt - or do others do this too?

Thats great news, once you get started you don't stop.

You'll be debt free in no time and think of all the things you'll have learnt along the way.
  • That is such great news. I am just about to pay off and close down my first debt too - it's wonderful to see them going one by one......

Thats really good. Once you pay off one it gets addictive. I get so excited when I pay something off it's incredibly sad. Well done again!

Hate to say it but debt is debt! I do know what you mean as I have 2 loans whcih go monthly but after CC paid I need to see how to get the loans done early (hard with being unable to overpay on either & with front loading!) BUT MUST do it as would rather I have the money than give MORE of my hard earned cash to the banks in interest!!
