I am finally a MSE

I am now in control of my finances. Today I am pretty skint. In the past that would have meant being overdrawn and getting out my credit card. Not anymore. I have £260 cash to last me the month, but I have all the toiletries, washing powder etc to last the month, 6 evening meals, one car with half a tank. the other about 1/4. My main account has to the penny enough to cover 3 outstanding DD. My car tax is due at the end of the month. I dont have a penny in that account as my other car was taxed last month for £240, so I will take it from my holiday account and repay it over 3 months with the £60 I usually put into my Car Tax account. It feels great to Rob Peter to pay Paul, knowing I am Peter and Paul. In the past I never knew what was happening. I was short every month because I had overspent the month before due to unexpected things. Now I am in control. I am pretty skint today and I couldn't be happier.

Congratulations and welcome Andy!! I know what you mean about robbing peter to pay paul and being both, but the same as you, 6 months ago I just wouldn't have had the cash there either way so used the cc to bail out.
Keep up the good work!0 -
Can I just ask where you got the stats from in your sig? I quite like the look of that!!0

Its a bit sad really. I pay £2002 each month to pay debt. I divided that by 30 days and then by 24 hours.
I have had my 9 bank accounts for 4 months now. I have just added them up and I have £2134, including £260 cash. It feels fantastic being skint but still having money if you know what I mean. I swear my quality of life has not been hurt. We just budget properly now. That £2134 would not be there today if we didn't and I bet I couldn't have told you where it went. That £2134 is not savings though, it is all going places, its just in the past I would have no plans to spread it over the year, and my CC would have took the hit.Debt free. March 20200 -

Just a tiny wee word of advice...buy Post Office stamps throughtout the year, when it comes time to tax the car(s) you don't need to pull £x out of no-where to pay for it!!

Haha ok thanks.... I'm too lazy to add up all the figures and work it out, although I did just work out I'm paying £20 a day based on my last two debt calculations.
Yep, I have 3 bank accounts and 5 savings accounts... 2 accounts are ods im trying to pay, and the savings accounts are all for things such as car tax etc. I think it's the easiest way to be organised!0 -

It's a nice feeling isn't it, I used to be skint when I had no overdraft left and underpaid a couple of bills, now I have £120 to do with as I please with all bills paid! My problem wasn't the fact I didn't earn enough I just wasn't organised enough.0

Yes I have heard about the stamps and was going to do it, but instead I put £60 away, which should cover MOTs as well. The reason for the shortfall at the moment is that I have only been doing it for 4 months. I also for the first time ever bought 12 months Tax, I never realised it was cheaper too. Come next year, I will have the full amounts.
Lol as if by magic the post man has just delivered my car tax form.....Spooky. Wheres Peter?Debt free. March 20200
