NORTON SYSTEMWORKS 2006 - £19.99 at WH SMITH

In WH Smith in Aylesbury yesterday they had a boxed copy of Norton Systemworks 2006 for £19.99 (red stickered down from £46.99 I think it was). May have been a local thing or may be national, because they have lots of clearance stuff in their current sales.
This is £46.99 in PC World at the minute.

Cue flaming from AVG and McAfee fans - off you go!

    Can I flame you instead?

There's no Antivirus software in Systemworks!

  • I'm with blueyonder, and they do a package for free, called PCGuard, NTL do one too called NetGuard.
Everyone i speak to is unaware that they do these or , as with blueyonders 4mb package its all free too.( antivirus, firewall, anti pop up, parental control, anti spyware, identity theft protection)
Ive had no problems with it, and it doesnt seem to be as resource hungry as Norton.

The basic package (1mb) gets you some items but not all.
With norton £25 and upwards, its worth a try.

Might be better to flame you. ;)

    There IS Anti-Virus in Systemworks.

    There's no Firewall however.

  • Why not just stick £10 more in and get "NORTON SYSTEM WORKS PREMIER (& PERSONAL FIREWALL 2006)" I believe the Personal Firewall contains AntiVirus protection as well. It's on PC World for £29.99

    Hope this helps,
  • I'd suggest not installing Norton products at all these days.

I used to use them many years ago but AVG Free, Windows Firewall (or your router hardware firewall) paired with Spybot Search & Destroy (for nowt!) suit me just fine and allow you to actually control your PC...unlike Norton which (these days) can cause more stress than anything else.

In a nutshell, I used to like Norton products but these days I'm not impressed.
  • Checked local branch for this, as my subscription due for renewal at more than cost in first message.

Nothing like that message obvious, except for a couple of Norton products quite heavily discounted, but not Systemworks 2006. Asked an assistant if SW2006 in offer. He wasn't sure but kindly scanned bar code. Pleasantly surprised at price of £24.99, rather than something like £46.99.

A lot better price than upgrading via Norton, or any other price I could find.

    Hope this helps someone.

    Cheers,
