I have just received an email from Scottish Power saying they can reduce my bills !! ... Great news, except that they have just increased my DD in spite of our account being only pence in debit after the winter bills.

I then click on the link in the email, and it takes me to a website offering me a list of no less thna 11 different options to save me money (supposedly), as below:
Are all fuel companies now this complicated, or is there still one out there who just gives a good service at a fair price - and keeps on doing so? And if so, which company is it because I want to switch!!!

Most suppliers have several tariffs but I am not sure they all have 11.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Hi BlondeHeadOn
I fully appreciate your confusion regarding the number of tariffs available to you. Our pricing department are trying to offer tariffs which meet each customers specific needs whether it be long term security from any price increase, competitive price, green or online option. Trying to satisfy every customer is difficult and I appreciate the confusion these multiple tariffs creates.
If you use the link below and update your consumption details, this will give you a good idea of what charges will be required for each specific tariff. This should help you decide which tariff is best for you and whether it is financially viable. Updating your annual consumption in kWh is the best option.

I did a price comparison on EnergyHelpline and one of the cheapest rates was the Online Energy Reward package with Scottish Power; I'm already with them so I rang yesterday to switch.
Unfortunately I was informed it takes up to 3 weeks to switch me over to the new package; though she said it would be backdated. I was previously on capped rate September 2010 and was advised there would be no charge to change; hopefully this is correct, Colin can you confirm.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
Hi Ms Chocaholic
Thanks for your query. The capped rate September 2010 was a tariff that had a cancellation charge if you changed tariff before 31st August 2010. If you have been advised that the cancellation charge is being removed then that is what will (should) happen. This may have been offered on an individual basis depending on your circumstances and account history.
If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to ask or to contact me and I will be happy to help.
Kind Regards
