That's always a good start...thing is i know whats wrong with it (well 95% sure i know what it is) which is the hard drive having died this in itself is a pain in the bum as the laptop is that old getting a new hard drive for it costs a load as it needs a old type of interface which they have not really been making...
They aren't *that* expensive.so i have posted on one of my techy site forums to see if someone has got a 'spare' one i can have (of course i owuld pay postage) otherwise i am going to be looking at installing my operating system on a USB drive which will be fun...
Do you mean a USB hard drive? Otherwise, Windows will kill a flash disk in fairly short order.
