Dispute with the bank

I hope this is the correct forum for such.

I had a clydesdale bank account closed in march after being £34.20 over my agreed overdraft limit. As i had 2 accounts with them, any previous situation like this, the money was "set off" from my other account (which had enough money in it at the time to cover it) Yet, they did not take it and closed my account.

Then, 2 weeks after closing my account, i get a solicitors letter telling me that the account is no longer in the hands of the bank, and any future contact should be with them. Followed by 4 more telling me that it won't go away and every letter they send costs £20. Yet, this morning, im just after getting a phonecall from the clydesdale offering me a settlement figure. Managed to get it raised to the "disputes" department.

Anybody had an experience similar or is complaining against the bank just the preverbial into the wind?

Cheers

Personally, I would move heaven and earth to get the other account into credit enough to cover the debt and I would settle in full the overdraft on the closed account from the other account. And I would let them whistle for their £20/letter nonsense.
