Home based jobs

My partner has a condition that means he cant go out and get a job like you or me and the jobcentre have been as useful as always and said he's unemployable.

So I'm wondering if anyone knows of any home based jobs where the interview (if there is one) is telephone based and the work is guareented along with the payment (we've had some in the past.

We've tried the usual ones for magazine companies and stuffing envelopes and been ripped off.

Hope you can help

If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of car payments.;)

I have been working from home for over 2 years and there are jobs. I can recommend Lionbridge. Very well paid and no interview at all, not even telephone based. All contact is via e-mail.
  • can you tell us more about Lionbridge please.

In many ways looking for a home based job is just the same as looking for an office based job - you apply for things that match your skills.

Obviously some skillsets lend themselves to homeworking far more easily than others. If you are a software developer or a translator you'll probably find it easy to get home based jobs; if you're a plumber it would be impossible. It's therefore very difficult to answer the OP's question without more details about what his/her partner is good at / wants to do.

Great advice! I am very computer literate, organised and have strong customer service skills. Many home based jobs require these types of skills. I see lots of post saying "tell me the link to Lionbridge, Arise" etc and in my opinion if you do not have the skills to do a simple search on MSE for things that have been discussed a hundred times before, many home based jobs will not be for you.

Lots of people think home working is easy to get into. It isn't. It is very competative and your skills/CV have to be as good, if not better than for work outside the home.
