Surveys

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, I did do a search.

I'm trying to make a few extra quid, so have signed up to Lightspeed, Toluna, Valued Opinions, YouGov, Onepoll, Global Test Market, I think that's about it! However, I'm regularly screened out! All my profile things are up to date, so it's not that. The other day I had 14 in my inbox, and didn't qualify for a single one. Is this pretty normal? I'm always honest, so if they ask what surveys I've completed previously I always tell the truth, and it's usually then that I get ousted!

So, I guess my question is, is honesty always the best policy? And has anyone got any tips to get through the screening questions? I'm starting to think it's all a bit of a waste of time (apart from Onepoll, which gave us 10p the other day for guessing the size of celebrity male, ahem, appendages!).

Thanks for reading!:)

I've just done 5 that were in my inbox, got to 45% on one of them, only to be screened out. Not one of them went through. I've had a lot of these lately. I wonder if they're getting 'free' info from people, just enough to find out what they want :(

That happens to me too. I think it's pretty unfair to be honest. I sometimes wonder if they find out what they need to know then screen you out so they don't have to pay you! At least it's not just me though!

I tend to find OnePoll is the only one that doesnt do that too often now. Either they seem to say you're not what they want ot end the sruvey and claim you ended it so wont give you the points. is really annoying.

It's not just you :) it makes sense when you think about it - market researchers are interested in opinions with regards to the audience they are targetting. If they're trying to gauge a reaction on how effective a toy for 5 year olds is going to be, it's not going to be much help to them to hear the opinion of someone who doesn't have or even know any children of that age group.
You have to look around really; there are various sites that host the surveys (you'll notice when you're redirected) and some are a lot more unscrupulous than others. I think OTX was the name of one who frequently "got enough" information out of me and then screened me out, even after answering a load of questions. I ignore those now.
The more reputable ones only ask a few basic screener questions which is fine by me. Some even reward you (albeit little) for your time, and some, (like surveyhead) actually show you the probability of you reaching the end of the survey before you take it.

I have had that trouble with e-rewards! A real pain when you've spent some time on it.

Thanks to all for replies! I think I'll have to accept that I'm not going to make my first million from online surveys (joking, obviously!!)! I'll plough on, perhaps I'll get that elusive Valued Opinions £50 by the time I'm 40, 3 years to go.....beers will be on me!

I seem to get through about 1-2 screenings a day from those types of sites.

I guess age, sex location are all important and occupation.

This happened to me before and I found it unfair.Im sure they got info from me too, and the rest 50 or more people who does the same thing yet they screened them out.
So in the end, 50 are screened out but they have given info about the survey. Tricky and sneaky.

I haven't encountered a trustworthy site on this, so I gave up doing surveys. I just find it not transparent for the time investment that I put in.
