Job offer with Company car scheme

hello all am after some advice on company cars as i've never had one before
just had a job offer for my new job which comes with a company car scheme. i can either have my salary commuted by £5500 per annum for a car with Fuel or by £4500 per annum for a car without fuel.
I currently live 50 miles from my new job and don't intend to move, i realise i have to pay tax on my allowance but what are the pro's and cons for having a company car?
at the moment i reckon i spend a year:
£2500 p/a fuel commuting to my current job 50 miles away
£400 road tax
£200 servicing
£200 tyres
£350 insurance
£50 AA
£150 MOT
£200 Repairs approx
can anyone give me more info? would having the car save me money?
thanks in advance

Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They should both be changed regularly, and for the same reason.

It all depends on the cost of the car and its emssions value.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

You ca get the mot done for about £50 at some places and anything that needs changing you cand you yourself for less than what a garage woudl charge eg wiper blades, tyres etc, screen wash,0

I realise that but assumed some work to my current car while it was in there.Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They should both be changed regularly, and for the same reason.0 -
Company car tax differs based on the car chosen and the emissions. The BIK tax rate increases the higher the emissions.andy208833 wrote: »What does the emissions value have to do with it?0 -

Company car tax is calculated on the CO2 emission value, the fuel type (diesel is higher) and the list price of the car.
The calculator is here :

Are they offering you a company car or a cash allowance for a car?0

One of the main advantages of the company picking up the car and fuel bill, is you can drive it like you stole it, I have 2 driving styles, one for my own car and one for hire cars and company cars.
You dont have to give a fig about shredding tyres, being gentle with the engine when cold etc etc0 -
Check the conditions for leaving the job. You might not want to be responsible for the car if that happens.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
