Milk Shortage???

Hi all,
I just wondered if anyone was experiencing the same probs as me, went into Mr A today, no purple top milk (1% fat milk) gaping great void where it should be...at £1.08 per 2litres- nearest equivalent green top milk £1.73 for four pints! I left it and thought I would go to the Mr T express near me, that usually have purple top for 85p for 2 litres, I only discovered this a couple of weeks ago when venturing in...went there and lo and behold.....no purple top milk  at least their green top was £1.53!!
My question this this, is anyone else having a problem with milk....or is the great milk shortage of 2010 only existent in suffolk??
Wondered if it was just me lol

I live in Poole and getting purple top is really hit and miss.

I really dont get these new purple and orange tops what is it all about? Surely they cant be much different from blue, green or red top?"You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0

What is orange top? I have never seen purple in our Asda, but have sometimes in tesco.0

Purple top is 0.75% fat. To be honest, the only time I notice a difference is in tea, but then I don't buy it very often as we have a Lidl 5 mins walk away! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

I blame the (non existant) government, or the volcanoe crisis!!:rotfl:

I have found the cheap milks do seem to have disappeared lately too - obviously the price war is about to shift to a different product.
We go through loads of milk as a household, so I'm always shopping around. The cheapest I've found at the moment is the Tesco Creamfields 3l (purple top) @ £1.25, followed by Tesco's current offer on Cravendale (2x2l for £2.50). Standard milk seems to be £1.53/4pt everywhere (2for£3 at tesco).
If you need 2+ bottles then Sainsburys and Asda both have the organic (£1.73/4pt) on a 2 for £3 deal, and Sainsburys has the 1% (orange top) on the same deal.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -

They're halfway between semi-skimmed and skimmed. Tesco's purple top is 0.75% fat, Asda's is 1%, and Sainsburys do their 1% with an orange top.
I can't stand red top, but get on with these if they're on cereal etc as whilst they are a bit watery, there is still some flavour to them.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -

I can be partial to a bottle of blue (or even gold) top myself - but in the quantities the rest of the family down milk, this is better for them
