Hi All
Like most of us on here, I have cut down on going out drastically in order to save a few pounds but I am looking for ideas as to how to spend my spare time now that I have more of it.
I do spend an awfully long time here on these forums (like most of us probably
) but I spend my work day in front of a computer and would like to take up a hobby/pastime that doesn't involve the computer....well, at least not for the WHOLE evening anyway
I was wonder how other DFW's spend there spare time ? What hobbies to you all have (other than being dedicated MSE'rs of course

I'm a School Governor, which can take up as much or as little of your time as you like and costs nothing but time. I'm also a Freemason, so completely different type of thing and just as rewarding but in a different way.
Edit: Incase anyone wonders I am a woman!0 -
I cycle, sew, paint, read, write, dance Scottish Country Dance and belong to a drama club.'They can tak' oour lives but they cannae tak' oour troousers!'The Nac Mac Feegle0

what do freemasons actually do or can't you tell us because it's a secret? why the secrect anyway?I'm also a Freemason, so completely different type of thing and just as rewarding but in a different way.0 -
I *try* to paint
I *try* to design furniture
I *try* a lot of things but my ambition is scuppered by lack of talent!
Reading, mooching on the net, clicking for points lol does that count as a hobby?
Erm I tried my hand at beading, done a few pairs of earrings as gifts etc.Wealth is not measured by currency0 -

Hi Madauri
You sound a busy person
I would love to join a drama club but I am rather shy and lack self-confidence.....probably not the best qualities for being member of a drama club eh !
I wish I were more confident as it looks like a lot of fun and ideal for me as I have no dependents as such (son just turned 18) and no partner so all my evenings are free.......gosh that does sound kinda sad

There are hundreds of websites...google Freemasons and see what comes up. Mostly a load of inaccurate junk but may cure your curiosity

Hi CAFCGirl - yes, I would definitely count reading, mooching on the net and clicking for points as hobbies as that is the sum total of my hobbies at the moment
BTW - I have been lurking on your diary for a month or two and been meaning to let you know how much I have enjoyed it
Keep it up ! 0 -
Awwwwwwww thanks very much
OOOOOOOOOh does that count as a hobby too?lolWealth is not measured by currency0 -
Oh, I am very shy, but I always remind myself the two main things:
-I know the words, the public doesn't
-it is scientifically impossible to die of embarrassment
If you don't feel safe on the stage you can try helping with the props or the lights, or what I find more interesting and creative, the set-up (and down, after the play's over). Come on, give it a try.
CAFCGirl, you do have talent: what about those earrings? I've tried beading before and I'm helpless at it.'They can tak' oour lives but they cannae tak' oour troousers!'The Nac Mac Feegle0 -
